Masterplanning, Community Design Guidelines, Full Project Management & Landscape Architectural Consulting Services. As Senior Lead Designer and Manager, Geoff Turnbull provided land planning, conceptual grading and landscape architecture for this 2,000-acre estate hillside residential project based on an early California country theme. The project includes an 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio Associates which winds through Sycamore arroyos and grassy meadows. This premiere site was envisioned as Orange County’s finest planned community. The project includes 400 custom and semi-custom homes, a world class golf course, including clubhouse facilities and a community center. Geoff’s role at SWA was that of Senior Project Manager providing full services for 7-8 years of project duration, working directly with the Irvine Company and consultant team on a daily basis and managing up to 17 SWA staff members. From preliminary rough grading and directing the civil engineers to field observation, his primary role was to manage the full services implementation of the public realm open space including, but not limited to fuel modification areas, open space, & recreation centers. Also, as co-author of the Design Guidelines a member of the Shady Canyon Design Review Committee (DCR) managing the guest builder program and testing the Design Guidelines.
